How Does ReFirme™ Skin Tightening Work?

Skin tightening works by using heat to trigger the formation of new collagen below the skin's surface.  The Tritt Aesthetic & Plastic Center uses a sophisticated radio frequency device called an Elos laser that generates two types of heat - optical heat and radio frequency heat.  The Elos™ laser generates within internal layers of the skin.  This heat causes the body to form new collagen, which serves to support layers of skin above the collagen.

"The effect of the new collagen becomes most apparent within four to six weeks after treatment," comments Dr. Ramie A. Tritt, Medical Director of the Tritt Aesthetic and Wellness Center. "The upper layers of the skin become noticeably firmer and more youthful looking.  With regular follow-up, patients can expect to maintain the results of the skin tightening procedure for many months."

The Elos™ system is non-surgical, meaning that no incisions are made and no anesthetics are used (although some patients do choose to apply a topical anesthetic skin cream).  The Elos™ device produces pulses of energy (heat) through a wand that the aesthetic technician moves back and forth over the treated area of skin.  The ReFirme™ device has a temperature feedback monitor so the heat generated by the laser may be continuously monitored.  Treatment sessions last between 30 and 45 minutes.
