What is Permanent Makeup? Permanent Makeup, or Micropigmentation is a non-surgical micro-procedure. Tiny droplets of custom blended colors are skillfully deposited into the dermal layer of the skin to simulate natural looking or well-defined makeup. This process is a selective art form of traditional tattooing whereby the natural features of the face are enhanced and defined in the form of permanent eyebrows, eyeliner and/or lip liner and color. The results are beautiful, immediate and permanent! A refreshingly, radiant yet natural look is achieved that cannot be duplicated by traditional cosmetics. Each treatment is as unique as the individual receiving it.
Who would best represent an ideal candidate for Permanent Cosmetics? These are various reasons why women, (even some men) would choose to receive permanent cosmetics. The more common include:
Improving the appearance of thin or no eyebrows.
Improving the appearance of thin lips.
Men and women with scars from surgery or trauma.
Men and women who suffer from brow or hair loss or who have sparse or fair eyebrows and eyelashes.
Women who have difficulty applying makeup because of poor vision or physical limitations.
Athletic women who want a radiant, carefree look while excersing.
Correcting an uneven hairline.
Gaining a boost in self-esteem.
Feeling more confident.
Providing a solution for those allergic to makeup.
Saving time and money on makeup.
Is Permanent Makeup safe? All procedures at the Tritt Aesthetic & Plastic Center are performed with one-time disposable supplies and follow strict sanitation and sterilization guidelines as required by the Center of Disease Control (CDC) and OSHA regulations. A color/sensitivity patch test is available for those opting for lip color.
How are permanent cosmetics applied? Getting permanent cosmetics is similar to getting a tattoo. Patients are given topical anesthetic to numb the skin and, after the anesthetic takes effect, the aesthetician can begin. The procedure usually takes about one to two hours.
The aesthetician uses a hollow, vibrating needle to introduce the pigment into the middle layer of skin (dermis). A droplet of the pigment is then released into the skin. The color used will look dark and shiny, while the surrounding areas will appear swollen and red. Patients can go home shortly after treatment.
A follow-up treatment may be needed to adjust the shape, color, and density of the permanent cosmetics.
Where is the procedure performed? Permanent cosmetics / Micropigmentation are performed in the Tritt Aesthetic & Plastic Center clinical offices located in the Perimeter area of Atlanta, under the auspices of the Center's founder and President, Ramie A. Tritt, MD, FRCC.
How long will the procedure take? Depending on the area of application, the procedure will take from one to two hours. Four to six weeks later a follow-up or touch-up session should last less than a half an hour. Most people require at least one follow-up session.
How much pain is associated with Micropigmentation? Most patients feel a mild discomfort. Topical or local anesthetic is used to numb the patient and minimize pain. Most patients feel a slight stinging sensation, but no actual pain.
What is the road to recovery like? After receiving permanent cosmetics, the treated area might be swollen and tender. Most patients are usually able to return to work the next day. While recovering, patients must follow the post-op instructions, which may include placing ice and ointment over the treated area. This may also include avoiding sunlight. Following these instructions can ensure better results and reduce the possibility of complications.
How long will my Permanent Makeup last? Your Permanent Makeup can last for several years depending on your skin type and how well you care for it. Over time the color will lighten and you may desire to have the color refreshed.
Where do I begin? A consultation is the first and most important step to the procedure. During your free initial consultation, our aesthetician can learn more about you and vice versa. This is your opportunity to talk about your goals and expectations for permanent cosmetics and to ask any other questions. This visit gives ua a chance to evaluate your skin tone, texture and complexion. As a result, our aesthetician can determine the proper pigment to best match your natural colors. This visit also allows us to inform you of the benefits, precautions, risks, methods used and other important information, so that you are well-informed about the procedure before making a decision.
Are there consent forms or medical forms to fill out? Yes. All consent and medical forms must be completely filled out before your actual procedure.
