How Do I Prepare for my BOTOX® Treatment?
BOTOX® treatments involve one or more injections directly into the tiny muscles under the skin of your forehead, at the sides of your eyes and at the sides of your mouth. These injections are not particularly painful although we do use a topical numbing cream. Our main recommendations are as follows:
- Do not wear makeup or apply skin creams to the area where you will undergo BOTOX® injections. The skin at the injection site needs to be as clean and sanitary as possible.
- Do not eat a big meal prior to treatment - in the unlikely event that you have an allergic reaction to the BOTOX® injection or to the numbing cream, you do not want to have a full stomach. It is okay to drink water or other non-alcoholic liquids prior to your appointment.
- Drink plenty of water for two or three days prior to your appointment - BOTOX® works best when your skin is fully hydrated, both before and after your injections.
- If you are taking any prescription medications or if you have recently undergone any surgical procedures, please make those facts known to your wellness and aesthetic counselor. While BOTOX® is appropriate for most patients, it is a medical procedure.
- Following your BOTOX® treatment session, you are free to resume regular activities as you wish. We generally recommend that you avoid strenuous exercise the day of your treatment and perhaps for a day or two thereafter. Any residual soreness you feel should be over within 48 to 72 hours.
- Stay out of the sun in the days prior to your treatment - even with sunscreen, the sun will cause damage to your skin.
You should also remember that your BOTOX® results will be better if you combine wrinkle elimination with diet, exercise and nutritional supplementation. The Tritt Aesthetic & Plastic Center does offer a variety of services to help you recapture your youthful appearance, lose weight and feel better. Please ask your Aesthetic and Wellness Counselor about the many services offered at our facility. If you have any questions about the BOTOX procedure itself, please do not hesitate to call us at 404-256-7520.
